North Central is one of Regina’s least desirable areas overall due to a much higher rate of crime and older structures. Before you get mad at us for saying so, hear us out! We are only trying to offer some honest perspective of the neighbourhoods in Regina for people with young families that may not know the City of Regina very well, if at all. If you have a younger family and are hoping to find a safe area with good schools, this simply isn’t it but there are many positives to living in this area of the city as well.

North Central is conveniently located in the center of the city, making it close and easy to get anywhere.Unfortunately, the area’s reputation has a negative effect on housing prices in the area, bringing the overall value down, which makes it very affordable to the less fortunate but also ideal for purchasing rental/ revenue properties.  Much of the property in this area does require updating but there is always the odd well-kept gem, as well as plenty of opportunities to purchase large lots to infill with a new home for a fair price!

Don’t write Washington Park off just yet.

Although North Central’s reputation has been nothing short of negative for as long as we can remember, there really is a lot of potential for this area to begin improving and we are already seeing many younger couples on tight budgets construct new homes, bringing the values up slowly, as well as two major schools which have been completely revitalized and are breathing new life into the area.

Most notable is Scott Collegiate, which serves as a trade focused high school to hohn some real life skills, a public library, and a community center for the area.

Amenities in this area include schools, pools, community centers, the pasqua hospital, dentistry, music shops, convenience stores, medical specialists, and is in close proximity to Mosaic Stadium & Evraz place – concerts, football games, hockey games, the exhibition/agribition, and much more are all within walking distance
